Applications Programmer - Albany, NY

Reporting to the IT Director, this person will work heavily in the testing/quality assurance space with new and existing applications to discover and mitigate risk with end users.  This role is critical to the success of our sales support; therefore this individual must possess an enthusiastic demeanor towards developing and improving processes.  This individual will have a well rounded background in IT support including but not limited to the following responsibilities and requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, create, and modify general computer applications software or specialized utility programs.
• Analyze user needs and develop software solutions.
• Design software or customize software for end users with the aim of optimizing operational efficiency.
• Analyze and design databases within an application area, working individually or coordinating database development as part of a team.
• Train end users on new software and programs developed by IT team.

Requirements

• Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, Business, Accounting or related field.  A Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of experience with any or all of the following:

Writing application software

Business Intelligence application development

Reporting

Data Warehouse

Java and/or PHP

Software Quality Assurance and Testing

Testing and implementation

Assisting and/or lead in the design of program specifications and the implementation of software solutions.

Experience working with and training end users
